Community Service

Just as Binarians are committed to serving their customers to the full extent of their skill and knowledge, they are equally committed to giving back to the community. Binary Group and the individuals who make up the company regularly contribute time and resources to those in need.

Susan G. Komen National Race for the Cure

Starting in June of 2007, Binarians under the banner Team Binary participate in the Susan G. Komen National Race for the Cure. The Komen Race for the Cure Series raises significant funds and awareness for the fight against breast cancer, celebrates breast cancer survivorship, and honors those who have lost their battle with the disease.

Season of Thanks

Early November 2006 marked the kick-off of what will become an annual event—Binary's gala Season of Thanks reception. Conceived as an occasion when customers and Binarians come together to meet and mingle, and as a time for thanking our valued customers for their loyalty and support, the Season of Thanks event also solicits donations of Thanksgiving food items from all who attend. All donations are given to the Capital Area Food Bank, so that this worthy organization can help needy families find a reason to celebrate the Thanksgiving Season.

US Army's Black Jack Brigade

As a show of support for their efforts in Iraq, Binary Group has "adopted" Colonel Bryant Roberts and the 4,000 soldiers he commands in the 2nrd Brigade Combat Team for the 1st Cavalry Division, nicknamed the "Black Jack Brigade." Binary CEO Rose Wang met Colonel Roberts, former 2nd Lieutenant to Binary's Gene McKinney, during an Army demonstration trip to Fort Hood during the summer of 2006. The US Army has assigned the Brigade with patrol duties of the Green Zone in Baghdad during the next twelve months. Binary Group members will back the Brigade with prayers, support, and care packages.

Hurricane Katrina

Binary Group made a significant donation to the Katrina Relief Fund. In addition, a Binarian with expertise in wireless technology took two months off to provide technical support to first responders in Mississippi and Louisiana.

Habitat for Humanity

Binary Group contributes to Habitat for Humanity, and served as one of the sponsors for the 2006 Habitat for Humanity Golf Tournament in Frederick County, Maryland. Members of Binary's Leadership Team participated in the tournament.

Bethesda Volunteer Fire Department

Binary Group serves as an annual sponsor of the Bethesda Volunteer Fire Department fundraiser.

World Food Day

Binary encourages staff members to contribute annually to World Food Day. Founded by the United Nations' Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in 1945. World Food Day increases awareness of hunger and poverty issues around the world.

Army GFEBS Fan Club

September 2006, Binarians contributed to a "Binary Fan Club" package sent to GFEBS team member Megan Eldred, who had been deployed to Iraq.

"When the Miracle Never Comes"

A Binarian addressed the Maryland Head Injury Convention with a presentation that touched on dealing with traumatic brain injury and how a family needs to cope with it. Her presentation was based on her own family's experience over a 12 year span in dealing with her husband's traumatic ordeal.
